Death by Displacement is part of a three-part series that focuses on the humanitarian crises millions of refugees have faced for decades, and continue to face today. Death by Displacement depicts a Congolese refugee that is a part of the five million people who were forced out of their homes by violent military abuse in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The ongoing crisis is the product of nearly 17 years of armed conflict and unrest in the DRC. Human rights groups have even deemed parts of the DRC as “the most dangerous place in the world to be a woman” due to extreme sexual violence.
