Project Description

Watercolor on watercolor paper

22″ x 30″

This portrait commemorates the American rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter James Marshall, better known as “Jimi Hendrix”. Depicted throughout his hair is a timeline of his life story, beginning with his birth in Seattle, Washington and ending with last performance at the Open Air Love & Peace Festival in Fehmarn, Germany. His notable band, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, along with some of his mentors like BB King and Johny Jones, are also depicted throughout the portrait. I chose to use a monochromatic theme in this piece to better highlight his life story and experiences visually represented throughout his hair, for those experiences and people helped shape him into the influential rock legend we all know and love today.
