Children Die As Human Shields is part of a three-part series that focuses on the humanitarian crises millions of refugees have faced for decades, and continue to face today. Children Die As Human Shields depicts a Palestinian refugee, wrapped in the Palestinian flag. The imagery seen throughout his hair paints a picture of the bleak and tragic Israeli occupation over the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Gaza. One character painted in the upper right corner of the scene is Ahed Tamimi, a Palestinian activist who has been recently freed from prison. She is featured overlooking the devastating scenery with a sense of hope.
